Speaker, Jane Hight McMurry, educated and entertained us last night at the NAWBO Charlotte monthly dinner meeting held at Byron’s.    Jane shared tips from her three books, the latest being “Navigating the Lipstick Jungle”.  Her stories could resonate with us all.  Her presentation focus:

Success in the City – 200 attendees strong!

Our latest event, Success in the City, held on October 28, 2015, was a SUCCESS (of course).  It far surpassed all expectations.

We had over 200 attendees.

We had 11 business women organizations represented.

We had political candidates Edwin Peacock,  Jennifer Roberts and many more attend to understand the needs of women in business.

Food was fantastic.

Sole-Source Contracting for Women-Owned Small Businesses: a Dream Come True!

1) it’s National Women’s Small Business Month and

2) as of October 14, 2015, Federal Contracting Officers are authorized to award WOSBs Sole-Source contracts/awards as indicated in 13 CFR 127 Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract Program.

On December 19, 2014 H.R. 3979 National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2015 was signed into law by President Obama. 2015 Veteran Small Business Week is November 2-6

Next week we celebrate Veteran Small Business Week and on November 11th we honor them on Veterans Day. The Small Business Administration provides excellent information and resources on their website.

If you’re a female Veteran, in Active Duty or a Military Spouse, there are organizations that have business and leadership events you may be interested in attending and some also provide free online training.
