Had anyone told Marcia Wieder when she was caught up in running a three million-dollar marketing firm that she would soon become known as a dreams-come-true expert, she may well have questioned their sanity. Despite a highly successful career in which she provided strategic planning for such clients as Pepsi, Dupont and IBM for more than a decade, she knew there was more to life than the 60 hour work weeks she was putting in to keep up with the demands of her professional life. Her dream - - to live by the water in the city by the bay and to create a life where play was even more important than work. With a pragmatic and practical approach that were the hallmarks of her professional life, she put the wheels in motion to make her dream a reality. In the process of making her own dream come true, she gave birth to a new career in which she teaches others a step-by-step approach for living their dreams. Not only does she travel extensively presenting workshops to such companies as AT&T, USA Today, American Express and many others, she has authored "Making Your Dreams Come True," " Life Is But A Dream," and "Doing Less and Having More."
Born in the Bronx and raised on Long Island, she went on to study journalism at the University of Hartford before transferring to the University of Maryland, where she received a degree in Film and Television production. She went on to a freelance career in television production working with such legends as Bob Hope and Lucille Ball in broadcasts emanating from the Kennedy Center. She later opened a one-woman office at the National Press Building in Washington, D.C.
Twelve years later, she had two offices, a staff of fourteen and a prestigious client list of Fortune 500 companies, professional associations including the National Association of Professional Saleswomen and Young Presidents' Organization and government agencies including the FBI and the U.S. Army. Along the way, she had served as a chapter president for the National Association of Women Business Owners and received numerous awards including the SBA's Women in Business Advocate of the Year and Chivas Regal Entrepreneur of the Year.
She found that career while doing some volunteer work for the Make A Wish Foundation, where she was inspired to discover that her true calling was to empower people to live their dreams. Over the next three years, she led by example as she phased out her former life with integrity by finding work for her employees and laid the groundwork for her new and now equally successful career.
With the publication of her first book "Making Your Dreams Come True" in 1993, she offered what Citywoman Magazine called "a step-by-step process for tapping into your own inner-vision and turning it into achievable concrete steps." While her first book advocated business-like strategies for living a dream, her second effort took a decidedly more playful and joyful approach to work as evoked in the children's song that inspired the book's title, "Life Is But A Dream.". In 1998, Marcia wrote a third book, "Doing Less and Having More" published by William Morrow. Continuing to offer simple exercises and inspirational stories, here Marcia offers a Roadmap to Ease.
She also founded and leads Dream University®, her week long curriculum on passion and finding your purpose, that she leads in Maui and in Utah, attracting business leaders and big dreamers from all over the world. She is a highly rated resource for the Young Presidents' Organization, speaking at many of their events worldwide.
